The Last of Us Season 2: Jeffrey Wright Joins the Fight
The world of The Last of Us just got a whole lot more interesting. Variety has learned that acclaimed actor Jeffrey Wright has joined the cast of HBO’s hit series for its second season. Wright will take on the role of Isaac, a character he previously played in The Last of Us Part II video game.
The battle for survival continues
In the game, Isaac is the leader of a large militia group fighting for liberty in a post-apocalyptic world. With Wright’s impressive acting chops, we can expect a nuanced and powerful performance.
Wright will join returning leads Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, and Rutina Wesley, as well as new cast members Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, and Danny Ramirez. Catherine O’Hara will also make a guest appearance in an undisclosed role.

Wright’s impressive resume boasts an Academy Award nomination for his leading role in American Fiction, as well as a Golden Globe nod. He’s a five-time Emmy Award nominee, winning the award for best supporting actor in a miniseries for HBO’s Angels in America.

The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who have also directed episodes of the show. The series is a co-production between HBO and Sony Pictures Television, with PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog producing.
