The Last of Us: HBO’s Adaptation Takes Shape
The highly anticipated HBO series, The Last of Us, has finally given us a glimpse into its production. Co-star Gabriel Luna shared a photo on Instagram, captioning it “Already love these folks,” which shows him smiling alongside Pedro Pascal, Nico Parker, and the pilot’s director Kantemir Balagov and cinematographer Ksenia Sereda.

The photo comes just a day after Nico Parker’s involvement in the project was announced. Luna, on the other hand, has been attached to the project since April. The biggest news, however, came when Pedro Pascal was announced as the show’s post-apocalyptic protagonist, Joel, back in February.

Although not pictured, Bella Ramsey, Pascal’s fellow Game of Thrones alum, is also confirmed to star as Joel’s adopted daughter, Ellie. The series is written by Chernobyl writer Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the game’s creator. The HBO series will cover the events of the original game, with the possibility of additional content based on the game’s sequel, The Last of Us Part II.

In other news, Fringe alum Anna Torv has joined the cast of The Last of Us in a recurring role, playing Tess, a smuggler and hardened survivor in a post-pandemic world. Torv’s character works with Joel to survive and smuggle weapons in and out of Boston.

Meanwhile, HBO has also announced that filming has begun on its Game of Thrones prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, in Belfast, Ireland. The show is based on the characters Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, Egg, who were featured in George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight novella.
