Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream: The Latest Installment in the SAO Series

The wait is finally over! Namco Bandai Entertainment Inc. has announced that the latest title in the Sword Art Online (SAO) home video game series, Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, will be released on October 3, 2024. Along with the announcement of the release date, new playable characters Asuna, Eugio, and Alice, as well as new original characters Fuuka and Neige, were also revealed.

Story Trailer Revealed!

In conjunction with the announcement of the release date for Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, a story trailer has been released. The Story Mode, which can be played in the offline mode of the game, is the first in the SAO home video game series to feature a storyline based on the original story and anime.

“Galaxia, a new feature of the virtual world, was supposed to be a revolutionary technology that realistically reproduces the past. Kirito, who was spending his daily life with Asuna, Shinon, and his classmate Quinella from the school for the returned, suddenly feels something strange in this world.”

The trailer shows a cutaway shot of a fellow player, Leafa, attacking her, and a scene in which she is working with the Administrator, who appeared as an enemy character in the Articulation game. It seems that memories of the past and present have been altered in some way, but let’s play the game to find out what really happened!

New Playable Characters

Asuna, Eugio, and Alice will join the game as new playable characters. Asuna specializes in a fighting style that combines high-speed continuous shooting and stepping. Eugio is a sub-attacker who can render a wide range of enemies immobile with the Freeze status abnormality. Alice fights mainly with simple swordsmanship, but can change her fighting style to a powerful ranged attack by using the extra skill Enhance Armament.

Fuuka, a test player for Galaxia, and Neige, a support AI that assists Fuuka, will also appear in the story mode. Fuuka claims to be a test player for Galaxia, and Neige is a support AI that assists Fuuka.

The theme song for Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream will be ReoNa’s Our Hymn. ReoNa has sung the theme song for the Sword Art Online series and Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-.
