Sega’s Like a Dragon Series Gets Live-Action TV Adaptation on Prime Video
The popular video game series, Like a Dragon (formerly known as Yakuza), is getting a live-action TV adaptation on Prime Video. This news comes after the success of the Fallout series on the platform.
The Like a Dragon series, which originated in 2005, has gained a massive following worldwide. The games are known for their blend of open-world exploration, crime drama, and humor. The TV series will take inspiration from the first game in the franchise, which was released in 2005.
The show will be directed by Masaharu Take, who is known for his work on We Make Antiques and Kamen Teacher. The series will star Ryoma Takeuchi as Kazuma Kiryu, the main protagonist of the game series.

The series will consist of six episodes and will be released in two parts, with the first batch of episodes dropping on October 25, 2024, and the second batch on November 1, 2024.
This adaptation is a significant milestone for Sega, as it marks the franchise’s first foray into live-action since the 2007 film. The company has expressed its desire to build out franchises like Like a Dragon and Persona into transmedia giants on par with Sonic the Hedgehog.
The Like a Dragon series has seen immense success, with the latest game, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, selling over 1 million copies in its launch week.
