Reba Revival: Is a Reboot of the Classic Sitcom on the Horizon?
The roots of Reba may be planted in the past, but could they sprout again? Steve Howey, who played Van Montgomery in the classic WB-turned-CW comedy, has expressed interest in reprising his role in a revival of the show.
The original cast of Reba, including Steve Howey, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and Reba McEntire.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Howey stated, “To see where Van is now and where the family is, I mean, I would do anything. Reba says ‘jump,’ and I’ll say, ‘how high?’”
Howey’s enthusiasm for a revival is not an isolated sentiment. His former TV wife, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, has also shown interest in revisiting her character, Cheyenne.
“I think it’s been more than just thought about,” Swisher told People. “It’s something that I think we would all really love to be a part of… [The show is] very much in our hearts and our minds, and topics of conversations… I can assure you that if someone came to all of us and said that they wanted to do it, we’re all there, ready with all of the stories.”
Reba McEntire, the star and executive producer of the show, has also been trying to get a revival off the ground. In an interview with The Bobby Bones Show, she stated, “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six-and-a-half years.”
The original series, which premiered on The WB in 2001, told the story of Reba Hart, a single mom who worked too hard, who loved her kids and never stopped. The show ran for six seasons and 125 episodes, concluding in 2007. Reruns remain in heavy rotation on CMT and Hallmark Channel.

In recent years, McEntire and her co-star Melissa Peterman, who played Barbra Jean, have reunited on the set of CBS’s Young Sheldon. The two actresses even played sisters in the Lifetime original movie The Hammer in January.
With the cast’s enthusiasm and the show’s enduring popularity, could a Reba revival be on the horizon? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain - the door is open for a potential seventh season.
