Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Bring Tomb Raider to Life on Prime Video
The iconic video game franchise is getting a TV adaptation
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the talented mind behind Fleabag, is set to write and executive produce a TV series based on the beloved video game franchise, Tomb Raider. The show has been ordered by Prime Video, and casting is yet to be announced.
As an archaeologist and adventurer, Lara Croft has been a huge part of many gamers’ lives, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is no stranger to action-packed narratives, having starred in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. In a statement, she expressed her excitement about bringing Lara Croft to television, saying, “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode. Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators.”

Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke added, “Phoebe has a lifelong love affair with Lara Croft, and as soon as we start the worldwide search for who will play this iconic role, I just can’t wait.”
The Tomb Raider game franchise has sold over 95 million copies and has been adapted into various movies, including the 2001 film starring Angelina Jolie and the 2018 film starring Alicia Vikander. Prime Video has also recently released another video game adaptation, Fallout, which has been successful enough to warrant a second season.
As a gamer and a fan of the franchise, I’m thrilled to see Phoebe Waller-Bridge bring her unique perspective to the world of Tomb Raider. With her passion for the franchise and her experience in crafting compelling narratives, I have no doubt that this TV series will be an exciting adventure for audiences worldwide.
