Sophie Turner’s New ITV Drama, Joan, Drops First-Look Trailer
The wait is almost over for Sophie Turner’s new ITV drama, Joan, as the first trailer has finally dropped. The six-part series, which premieres in September, sees the Game of Thrones star take on the role of real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington.
The Queen of Thieves
The trailer, which was released on Turner’s Instagram on Tuesday, gives us a glimpse into the life of Joan Hannington, a fiery and uncompromising character who had a troubled childhood. The clip begins with Joan staring directly at the camera, before cutting to a montage of striking disguises she wears.
The Art of Disguise
The trailer also provides a glimpse of Joan’s young daughter, as well as teasing a high-speed car chase as she tries to escape the police. With her sharp intelligence, charm, and talent for impersonation and performance, Joan’s story is set to be a compelling television drama.
On the Run
Created by The Essex Serpent’s Anna Symon, the series will chart Hannington’s life, starting in her twenties as a petty thief to her transformation into a criminal mastermind in the 1980s. When Joan’s first husband goes on the run, she takes an opportunity to leave her old life behind and secure a new life for her young daughter.

Joan also stars The Essex Serpent’s Frank Dillane, Harlots’ Kirsty J Curtis, Top Boy’s Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, and Gavin & Stacey’s Laura Aikman. The series will premiere on ITV1 and streaming service ITVX in September, while in the US it will be available to watch on The CW.
