Lucky Street Lands £1m Postcode Lottery Jackpot
Residents on a lucky North East street are celebrating after landing a £1m prize jackpot on the Postcode lottery. The newlywed couple, Deborah Norris and her partner Paul Gilroy, are among those who have pocketed a £333,332 prize fund.
Winning big
Deborah Norris had told Paul to cancel his ticket after he bagged more than £3,000 on the lottery’s Postcode Millions prize in 2016. However, Paul ignored his then-wife-to-be, going on to win twice more. The couple even started playing with two tickets each.
“I told him to cancel his ticket after he won the first time,” Deborah said. “But he just ignored me.”
Celebrating their winnings
The couple’s bumper payout comes just weeks after finding out they had each landed £2,000 on the lottery’s Daily Prize in June while sunbathing in Gran Canaria on their honeymoon.
The couple plans to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage and go on a dream holiday to Hawaii.
Dream holiday
“We’re absolutely over the moon,” Deborah said. “We can’t believe our luck.”
The couple’s win is a welcome boost to the local community, which has been affected by the recent economic downturn.
“It’s a great morale booster for the community,” said a local resident. “It shows that anything can happen if you just take a chance.”
A community coming together
The Postcode Lottery has been a popular choice for many people in the area, with several other winners from the region in recent years.
“We’re thrilled to have won again,” said a spokesperson for the Postcode Lottery. “It just goes to show that anyone can win, no matter where they live.”
