Tomb Raider TV Series Greenlit at Prime Video
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is bringing Lara Croft back to the screen in a new Tomb Raider TV series that has just been confirmed at Prime Video. This news comes as part of Prime Video’s Upfront event, which has already brought us exciting announcements like the renewal of The Boys for another season and the trailer for The Rings Of Power season 2.
Lara Croft is back
Waller-Bridge will not only write but also executive produce the series. In a statement, she expressed her excitement about bringing Tomb Raider to television, saying, “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she’d explode.” She also mentioned that Lara Croft means a lot to her, as she does to many, and she can’t wait to embark on this adventure.
The popular video game franchise was first brought to the big screen in 2001, with Angelina Jolie playing Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle Of Life. In 2018, Alicia Vikander took on the role in the reboot, directed by Roar Uthaug.

However, things got complicated after that. MGM lost the Tomb Raider rights after Uthaug’s film received a middling reception, and no sequel ever materialized. But now, with Waller-Bridge at the helm, it seems like the franchise is getting a fresh start.
